I also don't accept any arguments of, "well Palestinians wouldn't go on rape and murder sprees if their lives weren't so hard". I say Black people in America have had it far worse than Palestinians, and I sure as hell don't see the Black community engaging in collective rape and murder sprees.

This so much. I don't accept the argument that they're keeping objections to Hamas to themselves, because ... well, I'm a white guy, and I'd be a complete asshole if I kept my objections to racists to myself. If you choose to keep silent about evil, you're just aiding and abetting evil.

I do not like that it's increasingly looking like Muslims in America are trouble. Good Muslims need to make their voices heard.
During the 80s / 90s, Black leaders spoke up all the time against gang violence, so there was no real question where the Black community stood.

Okay, fair. But, isn't that all the more reason to fact-check? Reagan was big on that whole "trust but verify" thing, and Gorbachev wasn't even entirely white (he had a jelly stain on his head). Those of us who don't even have jelly stains, there are worse things than fact-checking us.

I suddenly realize young people never learned what Marvin Gaye taught: "believe half of what you see, some and none of what you hear". (Later, John Fogerty taught white people.) People will lie to you for any number of reasons; double-check what they tell you.

I look at this young Black woman, and I want to ask her plaintively: "why do you trust us pastyfolk about this or anything else? Don't you know we lie as the mood hits us?" No tall white people or whatever, but as Marvin Gaye taught: believe half of what you see, some and none of what you hear.

Of course, whose fault is it that people are dying? Israel didn't want this war, nor does Israel want to be killing civilians, but Hamas keeps putting civilians in harm's way. And Hamas still enjoys heavy popularity in Gaza.

My (admittedly generous) interpretation is, she meant that there are aspects of the pro-Palestinian side that are true, but then there's this pro-Israel side that has truth to it too.

Yeah, every election cycle it's a new revelation about people I once thought were cool (or at least non-shitty). And they keep getting worse because they refuse to learn. They won't even acknowledge that they were responsible for what happened. They got what they wanted; why aren't they proud?
