I'm glad you like it. It was real fun to work on!

If you want to share the modded cart with me, you could make a post on the BBS (even private if you prefer) or maybe direct me to a github repo

To handle the path going to far on the x axis you could update the camera position to follow the player using the "camera" function, but be aware of over complicating before it is necessary. At least for me this is one of the greatest pitfalls 😅

I don't think I can download the cart from the post as it is a jpg. However reading the comments it sounds like you are on the right track!

It started because I wanted to draw my then fiancé in 16x16 resolution, but when I surprised her with the first version about 3 months before the big day she was enthusiastic about the game and joined me in the development. It was very cool to get to collaborate with her on such a personal project!

Just stopping by to say that I am loving this game. The gameplay is great and the art is hauntingly beautiful!

I will think about this idea. It would probably be good to add some items that can boost the plants.

However, my initial goal was not to create an automation game, rather a simple game people can check in regularly to upgrade and watch their plants grow

I want to add basic character customization, allow players to pick the colors of the clothe would be simple enough to implement and offer some self-expression!

Yes I definitely want to add some sort of progression or upgrade options

I added a farmer and some basic farming mechanics.
Next step will be completing the game loop with commerce!

I completely changed the tile structure but now plants can grow and need water.

It might be time to start turning these mechanics in some sort of a game!

Löve2D Is great, you are going to love it!

I 100% agree, however the PICO-8 character limit can really sneak up on you. The more projects I complete the more I find myself compromising the strict naming rules I apply in other environments!

Update on my auto tiling system in #pico8 : I can now manage multiple layers. So here come the seeds!

As suggested by @seagoatgames.itch.io , here's an update using four palettes by Brandon James Greer
www.reddit.com/media?url=ht...

This was very fun and a good exercise for me, so I think I will repeat this experiment in the future and try to come up with my own palettes!

True, it really depends on the theme and vibe one wants to go for!

For the GB I simply went with the Aseprite preset GB palette.

It would be fun to try with different palettes, I will look for the video you mentioned and try posting an update with the results!

Thanks. I find it crazy how the same pixel placement with different colors can give very different feelings!
