The DOD Law of War Manual agrees - it literally uses this as the example of illegal orders you shouldn’t follow (see page 1088). media.defense.gov/2023/Jul/31/...

It is wild to me that 429 people wanted to do that and did it. And amazing that people just…made it a thing.

Yep the varidesks are just narrower!
November 29, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Might be even better than a brick!
November 29, 2025 at 10:15 PM
I literally just did this! walked down the street and enjoyed every minute of it
November 29, 2025 at 8:18 PM
I’m so glad people did this!

Crosses out “probably knows”

Writes “can probably post exactly this data in chart format within 20 minutes of being tagged”

Poorly managed?

Well intentioned is right where my eye went as well 🤣.

I went back and looked again and the bike rack I thought was new or bigger across from Aldi is just unchanged. This one is just gone (though the no parking sign that used to serve it remains 🤣). I don’t see a reason why this would be removed to serve the project - construction access is interior.

Yeah exactly. You can see in my right side photo how this van impacts the daylighting of the far crosswalk.
November 23, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Yes exactly. Right across from swings, a bit west across that intersection.

We had asked for more bike racks in the area given we were losing the ones at the Y during Simpson reconstruction. We got one big one added but I fear that may have instead been just moved from here?

Man this cover art and the age at which I listened to this album are wildly out of sync.
November 23, 2025 at 4:08 PM
You didn’t miss it. It appears to have been… removed. I wonder if what I thought was the city adding one further west was actually just the city moving this. Heavy sigh.

Here’s a use for that retired gondola! 💡

This is adorable!

“Like with fire?” Omg 😭
November 21, 2025 at 10:17 PM
I’m teasing. But they had been telling us it was likely to be January or later so I’m glad / not surprised / slightly vindicated to hear this.
November 21, 2025 at 10:14 PM
SUCK IT ROSEMONT 😘
November 21, 2025 at 10:09 PM
🤣 this was 100% both of those things
November 21, 2025 at 6:09 PM
Yes Dec 8 was the very earliest possible but in our direct engagements with city staff it seems like January is more likely. I’d be surprised if Rosemont somehow knows something we don’t but you never know… that’s why I asked!
