Text based games. Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Commodore 64 and much more!
Overwhelmed by the horrors of this wretched world, so I hide in my fantasy retro corner.
Now EVERY wire is shortened and terminated with 90 degree connectors. This Commodore Trinity stack is for retro gaming events etc.

I feel cleansed. The whole lot is powered by a single mains plug.

(I know I've connected two monitors on the wrong computers)

So I have this weird "thing" where I really dislike non-amber indicators on cars. So I decided to tint my indicator lenses amber, as God intended.

I ordered a #Commodore #C16 62-in-1 cartridge PCB from Australia. My twin brother 3D printed a cartridge housing for me. My brother said; "The filament in my printer is mango yellow, is that okay?"... YES!!!!!

Completed my wooden rack for the #Commodore trinity. Internally mounted socket strip means whole lot powered by 1 plug. Used chrome car trim to finish off the edges.
#Commodore64, #C16 and #VIC20.

I wired in a switch to my #BBCMicro's composite video output. It switches between monochrome and colour. Means I can still have laser-sharp 80 column text on my green phosphor CRT when required.
The switch is mounted in an existing but unused hole on the back of the computer, so I'm well chuffed.

And what about a well used "Hobby Electronics" magazine...

Bing AI is very clever but also scary!
"Draw me a spaceship flying above a planet made of computer circuit boards, in the style of a 1970s Maplin catalogue. Add "Maplin 2024". Use bright bold colours, orange, yellow, red and electric blue. Make it look distressed. Add a bar code."

I asked Bing for a nuclear powered Acorn Electron computer. I have now ordered said beast (in fact both)...

My prototype "#Commodore Trinity" stack with my #SuperStarTrek running on each system.
This is made of sturdy corrugated, but will make the final version from plywood, I think. To be used at events etc.

LEDs tamed...
January 6, 2024 at 4:15 PM
New stuff for retro computers is very VERY cool. But why oh why does it have to light up like a friggin exploding star? Give it a period-correct LED, that is all.

I am going to tame these devices, DRASTICALLY!

I'm online with my C64!!! Playing BBS games on Particles BBS!

Got myself a nice "new" Philips green phosphor 12" CRT monitor, primarily for my Mini #CommodorePET.

#eBay, what the actual frig bucket international is that???

Upgrade was very easy. Mine was the RAM module option that sits under the TED chip.

C16 now fills the screen on the little 8" LCD. Demo'd here using bundled "Vanilla" mode which uses zero colour control codes.

Looks slightly better with tweaked picture settings on terrible 8" LCD monitor.

My Commodore C16 works!!! Installed 64k RAM upgrade and SD interface. Runs Super Star Trek perfectly!

I now have #SuperStarTrek on 7 different 8-bit systems.

This classic 80 column printer terminal based game has been lovingly and painstakingly converted to 40 (& 20/22) column 8 bit computers. All with sympathetic enhancements, where appropriate.

Take a look at my itchio page.
