Fascists are fundamentally pro-rape of anyone they consider weak. Rape, murder, torture, slavery. Kids are not excluded. Those are their values. Pretending to be decent is part of the sick pleasure for them. They think what he did is cool and funny. They're annoyed that they have to pretend to care.

As someone that actually DOES talk to God the very notion that She would order this fascist to murder thousands of innocent children fills me with incandescent rage.

That's the control mechanism. They make the central identity of these people tied inextricably to cruelty against those they consider weak or inferior so that it would require complete ego death for them to be bolted back to reality. It would be a serious psychological injury.
