We didn't cancel the midterms in the Civil War or the World Wars. But sure, this is it.

Yes, he is racist, beyond question. This along with protectionism may be one of his only actual beliefs. But I don't think he even knows about remittances. Somalia has gotten aid from the US even recently and for him that="They're ripping us off."

I never said not "real". Just that it's very recent. Even local Arab elites wanted to be part of the short-lived Kingdom of Syria in the early years of British control. This is rhetorically inconvenient for a lot of people.

Very hard for you to stay on facts and away from insults. That's very telling.

It is not a new geographical expression. As an identity group it's very new historically.

Sad selective half truth? Most members of Congress do not leave and get a pension in middle age. This is not a half-truth, it's the fact. Most aren't young when elected. Many don't last long enough to vest at all, let alone 20 years of service by 50.
November 27, 2025 at 5:34 PM
Yes, like other public employees! Until Representatives win three terms, they don't vest or get anything at all at any age. Very few have completed 20 years of service at 50, because most don't serve that long and few are elected that young. When AOC was elected at 29 she got attention because rare.

How did the Muslims who conquered Byzantine Greek and Aramaic speaking and mostly Christian provinces of Palestine justify it? Why was this conquest good and the British one bad while the Jews' return was uniquely horrible and how dare they? It really is true that Palestinian identity is modern.

No defense of 1. Your false claim that elected officials are paid "after they leave office" or 2. Making non-falsifiable claims. You go through life misinforming, ranting and condescending. Not good.
November 27, 2025 at 5:21 PM
This is a totally non-falsifiable argument. When they lose "of course, it's rigged!" When they win "it's just a safety valve!"
November 27, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Marjorie Taylor Greene, to take a recent example, will get a $12,000 pension when she is 62. She gets nothing when she leaves Congress in January. This is NOT what you said. You said something false and you're angry because I brought facts. You could try not saying false things.
November 27, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Elected officials are not "paid when they leave office". They have pensions, like other public employees. Members of Congress don't vest for five years and then it is at a very low level and they don't get a pension until their 60s even then.
November 27, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Anyone who disagrees with you is a dupe, clearly! How did Trump win when the GOP elite was against him and almost no papers were for him in 2016? How did Mamdani win then?
November 27, 2025 at 5:08 PM
Such a cartoonish view of the US. GOP party elite did not want Trump. He was nominated and won anyway. Most in NYC didn't want Mamdami. He won too. So much for the shadowy elites.
November 27, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Josh Marshall, guy who started a blog for Dems called Talking Points Memo 25 years ago? He's pushing a talking point that Democrats would like people to focus on-Trump misallocated resources. It is even true! But not going to succeed politically because that's not how human brains work.
November 27, 2025 at 5:13 AM
It's not. GOP owned the national security issue and could not be credibly outhawked, even though there were good arguments that Bush had failed. It's EXACTLY the same dynamic here. Do you really not see that? Violent Muslim immigrant whom Biden admitted is a win for Mr. ICE/Mr. Muslim Ban.
November 27, 2025 at 5:03 AM
It'll matter FAR less in any direction than 9/11, ofc. But it's the same dynamic. 9/11 actually helped Bush and arguments that he ignored warnings etc did not matter at all. Your argument is too complicated. Muslim immigrant Biden brought in shot US troops-"but the budget!" Not gonna work, sorry.
November 27, 2025 at 4:54 AM
Bush really was negligent before 9/11. Did that argument work politically? That's not how politics works. It's Trump's fault for being too soft on Muslim immigrants (whom Biden admitted!)?- good luck with that one.
November 27, 2025 at 4:41 AM
If only white people voted for him, he would not have won.
November 27, 2025 at 4:37 AM
I didn't say they weren't culpable. They dropped many balls, as Josh notes. But he is a Muslim, an immigrant and came in under Biden. That's three strikes. You aren't going to win a political argument that Trump isn't tough enough on such people.
November 27, 2025 at 4:31 AM
It doesn't matter. We're not talking about whether Trump Admin handled this -or anything- well. But again, the House is going to flip anyway. This is still a year before the election.
November 27, 2025 at 4:30 AM
It's great to note that and I hope it is more broadly publicized. Unfortunately, a Muslim immigrant who came in under Biden is very much something Trump and Co. can work with, politically speaking. This is not going to save the midterms for them, but not good.

I guess I missed them running defense for the RSF.
