Old person and future Luddite - assuming tech keeps going the way it currently is.
**REALLY PISSED** that I don't get to have a nice boring old age!
NO “kings” or LLMs for me!
And what does someone who goes STEM-only do when* the bottom falls out of one’s specialty? ’Life skills’ will let one see other possible applications of one’s own knowledge & experience even if/when it takes one somewhere unexpected!

*It does happen. A lot.

Everyday a 'grand' new stupidity.

The worst medical emergency is Rapid Spread Stupidiy.

RSS cases are multiplying at a horrific rate. We used to be a leader in health advances, but are skittering backwards at an appalling rate!

Working on it. Have to finish doing large intrusive stuff to the house before planting Stuff.
December 8, 2025 at 2:02 AM
How it looks to me too.

When you think of it as being for tamping down the accumulated ‘dinginess’ of old sheets (laundry was not easy then!)
You are correct about the modern stuff too - it‘s just that blueing & blue tone is unable to actually do the lighten bit - only able to fool the eye.
😉

Sorry if I implied “lightening” - the effect was/is *brightening* only. Those rinses were created to target older ladies as the need for actual “blueing” for laundry was supplanted by newer/better detergents. (It did remain available, tho - just less used.)

Also - keep reading that random stuff - never know when some stray bit will be useful!

Technically a Boomer, am officially “old” just this year.

I had to be told what was behind “blue haired old ladies“ by my grandmother (b. 1911) because it was due to a product rarely used by the ‘70s when I asked: ‘blueing’ a product to make sheets look brighter, & (over)used for white hair also.

If this Jack guy had posted that here, it could have been a pretty decent bit of snark/sarcasm. (instead of seriously stupid rage bait)

I am curious about the age of the writer - as the “blue-haired ladies” description strikes me as unlikely to be used by any generation other than my own. (Yes, in this day & age I could fit it, the only time mine was blue was when *youngsters* were doing it on purpose. I doubt many know the origin.)

Well she is a lousy writer, so at least she something to fall back on… 🙄
December 6, 2025 at 1:07 AM
I feel sick.
December 6, 2025 at 1:03 AM
No wonder they (all) are making such lousy decisions...
December 5, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Wonder if anyone actually *thought* about the “optics“ of someone then putting it to its normal use…?
December 5, 2025 at 4:01 PM
WTF?
December 4, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Maybe an interim 'reflecting pool' in place of the destruction?

I mean, a bit more reflection at the WH seems like a good idea..

Why is there a Color of the Year in the first place? To make people repaint their walls every year?

Don't give in to Big Paint! Resist the roller!
December 4, 2025 at 7:38 PM
Maybe (ha!!) they will run into those issues early on and realize what an amazing thing our Postal Service is!
(NOTE: this will do most damage to rural (usually) GOP-Land.)

"Subtle" mass murder.

The favored class will be able to get vaccines (even if they must leave the country to do it), but this will - Scrooge-like - "decrease the surplus population".

Is *anyone* in this administration SANE?
