As upset as I was when the “cave” happened, I think the most they could have hoped for with the shutdown is exactly what they ended up getting — bringing the issue of healthcare affordability to the forefront and sticking the GOP holding the bag…if an ACA extension was truly out of the question

2028 can’t come fast enough. These things need to be fixed and then protected. We need to make sure that more and more of our government requires that changes go through Congress and not be subject to radical change or elimination via XO.

My sister just graduated from Vanderbilt as a nurse practitioner and without loans there’s no chance in hell she’d ever have been able to do that. Who can afford college at all without some amount of strident loans? It’s literally becoming an option only for the wealthy, as if it wasn’t already.

How in the fuck is nurse practitioner not considered a professional degree? As if we needed another thing to rip at our healthcare system, we’ve just made it impossible for the average American student to take up the study.

I just don’t want to see this used as a reason to refuse asylum to otherwise deserving people and this is more likely to add fuel to Trumps anti immigration agenda.
