I've been reading this book Pirates of Darksea by Catherine Doyle to my daughter. I thought it dealt brilliantly with facing fear and serious illness in a way that a child can comprehend

It started with conspiracy and propaganda then evolved into dehumanisation - spreading distrust, fear and disgust about the target. The powerless were given a group to blame, the illusion of power. The techniques used now are the same. It’ll only happen again if people let it.

Does anyone else struggle to imagine what characters in a book look like? Currently reading through @aptshadow.bsky.social Shadow of the Apt series but the insect kindred idea is challenging and best I can picture is A Bugs Life people!
