It's important to stand by your receiver until the sound starts on the record so you can adjust the volume before settling in. Sometimes it's too loud, which is bad, and sometimes it's not loud enough, which is far worse.

If I had a buck for every record I've bought that has "for promotional purposes only- not for sale" stamped or stickered on it, I'd have enough money to buy a bunch more records with "for promotional purposes only- not for sale" stamped or stickered on them.
