Once again, we have completely lost the thread on how a college education is supposed to work. It’s not major=>job, it’s major=>opportunity to learn critical thinking and expression=>job. Double majors do not produce double opportunities.

The President lives and dies by the numbers. All his claims are about numbers. Suddenly, @nytimes.com is focused on content, not numbers?

Seems like maybe the protest numbers are not things this administration wants us to hear.

Sometimes you just have to report the numbers.

Colleague just sent me a shot of yesterday.

It’s ok to dress ok. Not sure how to hashtag that one.

So @dave.bzky.team, how’s #nyclimateweek fit #2?

(I’ll find a pic of fit #1 later)

To meet climate goals, we need to produce less fossil fuel.
The Production Gap Report, produced by a @sei.org-led consortium, measures the gap between what governments plan to produce & what’s compatible with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

Spoiler: The gap is wide.

Congrats to all the Chinese, Indian, and EU researchers who just received the gift of an entire transformational field.

We’re doing just great.

U2: Zooropa
It has everything: allusions to the breakup of the USSR, the cohering of the EU, the odd emerging new media, an embrace of poststructural spectacle.

Hot garbage from the @nytimes.com today. Running this hed with no reference to the fact Congress should be in charge of tariffs and is derelict in its duty to rein in the lawlessness here is an appalling normalization of our disastrous governance situation.

Look, I know it is all performative and this entire tweet could launch a dissertation to cover the inanity, but I can’t help myself.

If Canada joined the US, its people would pay taxes and thus pay for Golden Dome. So it’s not ZERO DOLLARS.

We live in the dumbest timeline.

While this is all pretty mendacious, the second bullet represents a 25-year-old view of higher ed. Today, most institutions engaged in significant research dream of the $$$ associated with the commercial adoption of their research and are hiring Deans/VPs of Research staff to make it happen.

I disagree with a host of things in this op-ed (including using one case to condemn a wide range of cases), but the author got one thing right:

I look forward to being charged for refusing to spend my money on a company whose values I do not share.

If Rs were to listen to this, it would result in a hilarious continuation of the IRA as demand for rebates and charging infrastructure took off…

The cognitive dissonance is palpable…and the media needs to do a better job of pointing out that the government is what delivers needed/desired services, so you can’t square protecting those services with slashing the government.

It would be nice if the lede writers would stop lending credence to administration “desires” regardless of their constitutionality.
