Spotted today on the shelves of WH Smith and Sainsburys. Many texts struggling for shelf space, underrepresented against the wall of celeb to author pipeline. Lots of familiar staples that are becoming stuck in the nostalgia pendulum. @theclpe.bsky.social

Had to send one of my hearing aids off for repair today. Both need to be sent but I asked to keep one. I have had several colds this half-term and my hearing has taken a huge dip. I've always struggled with my hearing in my role but this last week has been tough.

Teachers could model specific components of a diary, recount or any specific genre. Feedback can be focused on tone, structure or transitions etc. This allows writers to internalise and build models of genre specific sentence structures.

Both of these examples demonstrate the complexity of the task to a young writer. Often, we try to provide a range of examples and models hoping style will become clear. Using concise models focused on specific aspects can be far more effective. For example:
