You love to see it (but not that picture).

Reform had campaigned on electoral reform in the past (they've gone quiet on it lately), and Tories may increasingly see it as a way of actually keeping the party alive. I'm probably clutching at straws, but as they say, it's the hope that kills you.

Yes, those systems are much better. Constitutionally, it will be very difficult. But if nothing changes, we risk handing Reform a majority government on 30% of the vote. I think AV is the maximum level of change that could be imposed within this Parliament.

This polling is insane for a FPTP system. I hope the rumours are true that Labour is lining up a switch to AV for the next general election. AV is not the best system by any measure, but it's a damn sight better than FPTP and would let folk campaign and vote for parties they actually want.

5 parties with double digit support. An election under FPTP would be a lottery as to who comes out on top. We need a national commission NOW to determine which electoral system would be best to fairly express what voters want.

But more to the point - offering asylum to people fleeing war or torture or persecution is what decent nations do. It's what defines us. Without that it's just a race to the bottom.

My goodness, shorts were tight in the 70s, weren't they? Surely chafing was a leading cause of injury back then.

“Brexit hasn’t worked only because we didn’t do it badly enough” is quite a policy position.
