Day 4

Joseph the carpenter had been on top of the world with his engagement to Mary, but now he wasn't all that happy with this situation....

The Residents

It won't take you long to decide if you like this or not.

The first track is one of the greatest/worst* cover versions ever made

Harmonia

Cluster + Rother make a lovely album together. Quite remarkable how they did it with really basic recording equipment.

Day 3

And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. and will bear his son. You will name him Jesus.

Mary said "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" The angel Jim (for it was he) said to her, "In the game of life everything is possible"

A recent buy...

I'd like a copy of Playhouse but that seems quite expensive

Cluster -Cluster 71

A mighty slab of drone for a wet Monday morning. Somehow it sounds like it could have been made yesterday

My first (I think) reggae single, bought on a school trip to France, and one picked up in Holland last year

Some Sunday sevens for #WeekendSingles

More from Liverpool. First pic includes a couple of stray ones from 7" box sets that were in the £1 bins

Good morning campers
Here's a few #WeekendSingles I picked up in Liverpool recently.

Best shop was Pop Boutique which has a sizeable and splendid selection of US soul sevens and a super £1 section

King Tubby meets The Upsetter - At The Grass Roots of Dub
1974

Produced by a very young Winston Edwards, who 45 years later released this remastered version through his splendid South London based Studio 16 label

U Roy - Version Galore

Not many people create a whole musical style.

As the great man said..
"Chick a bow chick a bow"

Another fine Cherry Red / Doctor Bird reissue with a double CD's worth of tunes - All his Treasure Isle recordings

Dadawah - Peace & Love

A Rastafarian album of powerful spiritual music. If you like 70's Jamaican music & have never heard this, it's well worth checking out

Was a wonderful discovery for me back in the days of twitter. This CD copy comes with a second disc of Lloyd Charmers dubs

I can. It sounds more like 1977 to me.

So the next question is... What did the original JA album version sound like?
November 24, 2025 at 11:26 AM
Never even heard of that & definitely wasn't on my radar as a 16 year old

Fwiw here's a top 20 I prepared earlier..
