if you're travelling at night just be a bit wary of others, when i would travel i'd get to the station at like 2am and i did have a few instances of ppl trying to bother me, i would stay in the more public area of the station until about 20mins until my train was going to arrive and then i'd go up

when i used to travel from NJ to DC i would take amtrak trains. it's very similar to riding a bus or subway if you've done that before. there's not a ton of room for really bulky luggage, and depending on time of day you ride there can be less seats available, but it's very comfy imo
