I pretend I'm chaotic neutral but I'm actually just lawful good.
I've realized what I like about James Acaster's comedy is how kind he is to the people in his life. He may make fun of his family, but never in a mean way. He's always so gracious to his former partners, too.

He definitely has some hate in his heart but only for the people who really deserve it.

Sorry to the person whose shoveled-out (a bit badly, though, to be honest) parking spot I took tonight but someone took my very neatly shoveled spot so ...

I figured that would happen but ...

Fingers crossed that person leaves tomorrow and I can reclaim it. If I can get out of the spot I'm in ...

I'm realizing all the art I enjoy making has an element of unpredictability about it. That's what attracted me to Polaroids & my Diana camera. And now gel plate prints.

I will have things I intend but then be surprised by the results -- good or bad.

Speaking of Eddie Vedder, if Neil Finn calls you up, you say yes.

Watching Song Sung Blue on the anniversary of when I briefly saw Hugh Jackman's head from across the street from the stage door of Radio City Music Hall.

(I was in NYC and staying nearby for other reasons.)

I don't think @unseenfilms.bsky.social knew what he was asking when he asked me to create a series of overlooked women filmmakers.

But that's also why he asked me. I'm sorry/not sorry.

If you're in the path of the winter storm, I hope you're ready. Please stay safe and warm.

I have food and water and blankets. I should be good even if we lose power at some point. If we do, I have plenty of candles (real and battery-powered), books to read, and art-making supplies.

I was wondering where my weather radio was and it occurred to me that past me probably would've put it in my drawer of useful things* and it was! The batteries are still good (it's also hand-crank) but I have plenty of batteries, too.

*It's what you'd call a junk drawer but nothing in it is junk.

I have an extra ticket to James Acaster in DC this Tuesday. I'm happy to sell it to someone at face value (it's a balcony seat). No weirdos, thanks.

Also, I'm a Richmond girl so I am obligated to share this.

GWAR not your thing? They're not really mine either, but they are ours. I do love this so much, though.

I had so much fun at Taskmaster Live last night in DC. I know we had a minor "controversy" but look, Taskmaster is about how you play the game and she played it well.

As a forever figure skating fan, I love that this U.S. team is pretty queer and so weird and delightful. This is what figure skating has always been so I'm glad everyone is just doing it.

My friend suggested I do a Scandi music night, which got expanded to a Nordic music night. At first, I thought I didn't have enough but then I had too much.

I am seriously lacking in Nordic electronic music, which is weird because I love it (but I feel like a lot of it wasn't out on vinyl).

I need a theme for tomorrow's music night. This is entirely freeform.

I've been trying to not repeat records but I think that will be impossible. I still may do my b&w album covers night unless someone has something better.

I'm experimenting with photo transfers on the gel plate and I'm really loving the results.

Back in the dawn of time (like 1998), a newspaper reporter interviewed me about my baby website that focused on comics that girls and women would like. I was 18 and thought, sure, I'm an expert because I know HTML.

Remember, any time a company says "we aim for a good work/life balance" they mean "working here will now be your life."

Likewise, "we are like one big family" means "we expect you to have no boundaries because we don't either."

TRON: Ares is bad. Not sure why Jared Leto is the hero when Jodi Turner-Smith is the villain when she's way cooler.

I guess these characters have names but who cares?

Great soundtrack, though. I bought the soundtrack before I watched it, to be fair.

Have Daniel Lopatin do a TRON soundtrack, but only if he does it as Oneohtrix Point Never.

TRON movies are just cool soundtrack delivery vehicles.

I was going to do more "put life in order" stuff this week, but I think getting new tires for my car (it was on the list but one was leaking badly) was about all the adult shit I could handle this week.
January 7, 2026 at 11:52 PM
I joke that my '90s self would be baffled that Trent Reznor won an Oscar for music for a Disney movie, but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised Nine Inch Nails did a TRON soundtrack.

It's cool to like things.

I'm not a snob about anything. Your taste in music or books or movies may not be mine, but I love that you like those things.

I will share things with you that I think you may like but it's not that I'm trying to convince you my taste is better.

If I buy a printer, that means I can print my (currently unmade) zine on demand so I'd actually save money, right?

I got some smart bulbs for Christmas. I wanted them for a couple of specific purposes in my new place and they work great for that.

But now I'm like "what do you mean I have to get up and physically flip a switch????" for all my other lamps. Slippery slope, my friends.

Some gel plate prints I've made recently.
