This thread responds to Prof. Christian Dunn’s Telegraph piece on #climate communication.

I argue it misdiagnoses public disengagement, underplays escalating scientific risk, & reproduces a media narrative that has actively shaped, not merely reflected, public resistance to climate action 🧵

The fun part here is that people who don’t like migrants largely believe this because they’re constantly screamed at about menacing immigrants from every TV, radio and news stand, and the whole reason that’s done is to discourage people from noticing who it is that gets most of the money, and how.

Paid to pretend that you don’t understand very simple things that you do, in fact, understand perfectly well.

Few thoughts: 1. Much better performance and deserved the desperately needed win. 2. Orient were awful (Ballard apart), the way they deflated after we equalized must concern their fans. 3. Seddon was outstanding again. 4. We look better with Hippolyte and Browne both on the pitch.

Dons finally remembering that crossing into the box with some of our players actually in it may result in goals.

Hardly a hot take but fucking hell VAR is shit. First 13 mins of CHE v BOU has 5 minutes of reviews, 2 mins of reviews of BOU goal from the wrong angle, then 3 mins to award a bullshit penalty to Chelsea. What is actually the point?

Very average second half, very little quality from either team, draw was a fair result. Think we are in a relegation battle (with half the league) so it’s probably Jackson-ball from here on in, we’ve been too easy to beat recently. Monday is a big game.

Not a bad half. Stevenage fit and well organized but not threatening. We played some decent stuff for a spell but then were careless in possession a few times.

Poor defending but looked like penultimate touch was off their guy so scorer was offside.

Much better game than Saturday. Northampton look shakier at the back than most teams we’ve played so far, could and maybe should be ahead at HT.

Can’t even look at LinkedIn. First 2 things in feed 1) whingeing about e-bikes with about a 1,000 comments about tax, licensing and registration for “all road users”. ie I hate cyclists. 2) whingeing that Britain punishes ambition, all due to the “politics of envy”. ie I hate paying taxes.

Thoughts on yesterday’s match. 1. Mansfield came to frustrate us and overwhelmingly succeeded. 2. Even with a full strength team we struggle to break down teams in a low block, we didn’t lay a glove on them really. 3. That said they basically played a back 7 so it wasn’t easy.

Lethargic team, lethargic fans. Has losing to a soft goal on second half written all over this if we don’t improve.

Anyone know why Reeves isn’t starting?

COYD! Brought a lad from my team at work to the game today, he’s new to the UK and never been to a football game before. Just given him a 15 minute history of the club on the way to the ground 💙💛.

Thank god England have negated everything else to prepare for this series in the last couple of years.

I rarely love a player as much as I love Omar Bugiel. He was reputedly surplus to requirements at the end of last season, but opted to stay and fight. Whether that was psychology from the manager or just a straightforward decision, it seems to have been really good for him. #afcw

I have no idea what we would do if we were promoted to the Championship** but it would be fun to find out.

** I don’t think this is remotely likely.

We will end the day in sixth place - the playoffs are still on! Maybe those who said we'd only have one season in league one were right!
