I've never got the hang of shorting.

While demand is booming, energy storage unlikely to be high margin long term - esp. for firms that don't make their own batteries - except in protected markets.

Chinese firms likely to drive profits to zero. Could see, say, CATL/BYD pushing storage down to marginal cost.

Investors could and perhaps should have taken advantage by adding back some exposure. Leadership is diverse, so don't rush back into only AI names - many of which are still damaged.

If the market falters again, be ready to step back out. 2/2

agreed - I meant more generally about scaled-back U.S. EV production from GM/Ford/Stellantis.

Should have mentioned: Ford will shift some battery production for energy storage, providing at least some marginal competition to Tesla Energy even as scales back U.S. EVs.

I was talking about big pickup trucks for consumer/small biz market.

Yes, long-haul trucking is another problem.

Short-range is more doable as you say.

Yes, yes, yes. Garbage trucks, school buses, delivery vans.

I was talking about big pickup trucks.
December 16, 2025 at 3:00 AM
Agreed.

Especially if the vehicle is going to used for big loads/hauling.
December 16, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Big trucks seems like one of the last vehicles that should be fully electric, at least with current tech.
December 16, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Many, many people will agree with you.

Tesla sales are down significantly due to Musk and the lost tax credits.

But if - still a huge if! - Tesla does achieve true self-driving with a cheap, vision-only system, sales and pricing will surge.

Investors should have minimal exposure. Work on watchlists, focusing on relative strength even if the stocks don't have perfect charts. Remember that today's resilient stocks can be the next ones to crack if the market continues to slide. 6/6

Nvidia sold off last week, below its buy point and the 50-day line. It was a key contributor to Thursday's ugly market reversal. But, while it's definitely damaged, it's not broken like many tech leaders. Taiwan Semi, Broadcom are similar. 5/

Apple has a four-weeks-tight that formed around the top of a buy zone from a long consolidation, one of several stocks with tight entries amid market volatility. 4/

Health care - notably big pharma, biotechs and some medical device/systems/testing firms - is thriving. Eli Lilly topped a $1 trillion valuation on Friday, the first medical stock to do so. 3/

Bitcoin, seen as a possible culprit for stock market woes, continue to bounce from Friday's lows over the weekend. But it's regaining just a small fraction of its sell-off since early October. 2/

Nvidia pump and dump was a surprise, but it shouldn't have been. It's the fifth straight time that $NVDA initially rallied, then pared gains/reversed lower that day and/or next day ... usually with several days/weeks of declines. 2/2
