I don't want to suggest that Elon Musk might occasionally misread, misunderstand and just generally miss the point of a work of science fiction, but.

You can still have $0.02 worth of opinion via electronic transfer, and the transaction fee is only $1.99 per thought.

I disagree! The Just So Stories are entertaining.

More seriously, ev psych is like if someone thought that Kipling meant his little morality stories to actually explain the process by which the Whale got his Throat and the Camel his Hump, and thought that reading them replaced veterinary school.

Weak sauce implies the actual existence of sauce. This is somewhere between "potential sauce" and "a likelihood of sauce".

He says: “It’s totally reasonable and acceptable for American citizens to look at their next-door neighbors and say ‘I want to live next to people that I have something in common with.’”

Implied is that the gov't should enforce those preferences, not protect you from your neighbors' preferences.

... But also: I want to vote for skilled politicians, who will use those skills in office, and generally blundering into an unnecessary scandal is a sign of a politician lacking skill.

Interesting, but as you know I disagree—I don't particularly care what politicians believe in their inner heart, and in a general way I would rather vote for an ambitious politician whose ambition will provide incentives for serving consituents whether he wants to or not.

But also: I want to...

I've been trying to figure out any part of this connection between the White Rabbit and deportation and it has not been the best use of my morning.

Filmed abroad? Subject to tariffs?

More than that, though, he said that Trump should not be allowed to do the illegal thing that everybody said was illegal. I assume that's the part that will be overturned.

I don't mean to pretend that there's meaning here, but doesn't "Biden FBI" just mean "FBI that was in the tank for Biden", which is an old (obviously false) claim?

This seems to me to match up with an assessment of sex as a pseudocommodity, or a sort of unit of exchange. If someone is "getting the milk for free" under false pretenses, then it's a kind of fraud? Or in the case of adultery in marriage, the, er, price of the milk was misrepresented?

The World Health Organization, clearly.

Also maybe the Time Lords of Gallifrey, but if so, clearly working with the WHO.

(By your town, I mean down the road from the Mark Twain House, in case that wasn't clear.)

If you would like to have access to a university library in your town, let me know. You can certainly come in and use the databases, if I can't get you set up for remote access, and I can make sure you have borrowing privileges, too.

Or, more accurately, part of the set dressing for a production of _The Ladykilling of Chattanooga_, which concerns a real production of that play. And the image may notionally be of the real actor who played the part, but who is presumably depicted in (fictional) character, so that counts, right?
September 26, 2025 at 8:26 PM
I'm not entirely sure what counts, but the most recent picture I took that contains a character that is clearly in a work of fiction is a silhouette of John Plaster, formerly of the town of Paris, KY, in a poster for the comedy sensation of 1899, "Mr. Plaster of Paris".

I'm unfamiliar with this ACTS prayer model. Surely they don't intend for people to write their own brachas?
