Inveterate pedestrian, architect, lover of cities (particularly Barcelona) and transit enthusiast. (he, him)
Seems a bit under-ambitious to me.
Here's the street in front of my house:

I have never heard of a city transit system that closes on Sundays! How do people get around?

I'm seeing a lot of delivery service cargo bikes in my neighborhood.

If it really did something significant it would cost money and it wouldn't be bipartisan.

Why treat wheelchairs differently than slow bike riders?
February 10, 2026 at 11:13 AM
There are a hell of a lot of cargo bikes running around my neighborhood, used for by commercial delivery, mostly food I think. And almost all of them are just regular e-bikes with a giant box mounted on the back. I'm guessing they know best how to configure a cargo bike.

When planners and politicians get involved in architectural design the result is always bad.
Live with change, it's good.

A 4x12 room would be a hallway!
February 9, 2026 at 10:19 AM
...but two hours of pushing broom
Buys a eight by 12 four-bit room
I'm a man of means, by no means...

Looksist, fat shaming.

Yes, thats a car lane between the dotted pavers (for blind people.)
February 8, 2026 at 11:05 AM
Right, it's the bikes that make streets dangerous, not the cars!!
February 7, 2026 at 6:41 PM
I'm gonna guess that's Spain, right?

1990's Barcelona pedestrianized street: bollards everywhere!
New pedestrianized street landscaping: no bollards
February 7, 2026 at 6:15 PM
Not often you see a man in purple shoes!
February 7, 2026 at 12:55 PM
Bollards have their place, but calming and slowing the streets is even more important.

Odd to apartment living: No worries about leaking roofs, cracked foundations or clogged gutters. No property tax, no homeowners insurance or flood or earthquake insurance. Weekends are for relaxing and having fun, not yardwork. But the best part is the apartment neighborhood and no need for a car.

It depends on who you are, what your life situation is, and what the economics are. In Germany the majority of people rent. In Spain most own. But also, apartments aren't necessarily rentals and single family houses aren't necessarily owner occupied.

You want a garden. You don't want to rent. A lot of people don't want a garden and do want to rent. That's why so many people are clamoring to live in dense, walkable urban areas like New York and San Francisco! I love living in my rented apartment on the tenth floor!

Are they doing it in their role as employees of the city government, or on the side?

Why is it anti-Jewish to be against Israeli actions and policies? Lot of Jews are, including prominent Jewish leaders.
February 6, 2026 at 12:49 PM
So what's wrong with staffers starting a group like that?
February 5, 2026 at 5:17 PM
They do them better these days.
February 5, 2026 at 4:18 PM
In Barcelona residents clammer for pedestrianized streets in their neighborhoods, along with restrictions on street parking, bike lanes that are safe for kids, and more/better public transit.
