Our colleague Victor Maus won an ERC Consolidator Grant! 👏

In his project MINE-THE-GAP, he will use high-precision satellite data with cutting-edge AI models to deliver globally consistent data to monitor mining activities, supporting supply chain transparency and ecosystem protection.

The data also show that material productivity has steadily improved, meaning we convert raw materials into economic output more effectively. However, global circularity—the reuse and recycling of materials—remains critically low, with less than 10% of materials being recycled.
