Winter is the time for maintenance, repairs and organization. I am pretty happy with how shoring up the Turk's Cap bed turned out.

While there is not a lot of color in the winter, grasses carry the season adding texture and color.

You can count on Four-Nerve Daisy (Tetraneuris scaposa) for winter blooms. Compact, evergreen and nearly ever-blooming. What's not to love?

The new bed is all planted, and all is left to do is wait for it to fill in. It will be fun to watch it grow next year.

A couple of years ago we removed a dying Cherry Laurel (Prunus caroliniana)

The new bed prep was finished yesterday (thank you Christian and James!). Today is planting day, and I am so excited to finally be able to do it.

Happy holidays everyone! 🎄 Enjoy this special time of the year.

After a very disappointing rainfall event (only 0.2" here at the shop, and very dry October), I decided to seek solace in the garden. I came across this bee resting on one of the plant support stake. Feeling better already...

Bush Sunflower (Simsia calva) is an amazingly long bloomer (ours have been blooming non stop since spring) as well as a host plant. And if you are looking for a plant that will cascade over things, look no further.

I was sprayed by this cute thing twice this week. We have one or two skunks living under the office, in close proximity to the office door which causes conflict.

If you like Gulf Muhly (Muhlenbergia capillaris) but are looking for something more compact, Seep Muhly (Muhlenbergia reverchonii) is the perfect substitute. It has the feel of Gulf Muhly at half the size.

The beginning of the stunning flower show that Fall Aster (Symphyotrichum oblongifolium) puts on every year around this time. It is truly an explosion of color.
