Following the Government’s announcement of plans to introduce a 3p per mile tax on EVs in 2028, new analysis from the @eciu.net has found that the UK’s most-viewed second-hand EVs on Autotrader can still save their owners around £1,450 a year on average.

The Government’s latest English Housing Survey shows that over 1.6 million, or more than half (52%), households that report being unable to keep warm during winter are home to someone living with a long-term illness or disability.

Move could cause confusion and put drivers off - Gov already ⬆️ Vehicle Excise Duty on EVs, and weaked EV sales targets after industry lobbying

BUT

EV drivers *still* save over £1000/year even with the charge

Under Ofgem's energy price cap for January to March 2026, the typical dual fuel bill will remain stable (rising by just 0.2% or around 30p) but in real terms will fall by £37 once adjusted for inflation.
