I can’t speak to IMVU but Second Life is heavily dependent on the builder/owner of the land. There are lots of beautiful places and avs in it - and some older dated looking ones, but those are easily avoided if you want to.

I think this would have a negative effect on the social nature of SL. Most spamming I see is in group chats anyway.
