I should have gone with Cachy from the start. Much smoother experience getting everything set up lol. I though I could do everything I needed with distrobox in Bazzite, but raw terminal access is much better.

I did the same the other week. Just gotta get VR playable and then I’ll be set. Sadly work travel has stopped my tinkering to get it working.

The hope is that vr support will only get better now that all the new steam hardware has been announced. I got everything running, but I just have to tweak some settings since I have an nvidia gpu and there are apparently driver bugs currently in all distros. It almost worked out of the box though.

I switched to Bazzite the other day. Even though I consider myself a power user, I can do pretty much everything I need with distrobox. So much of my normal stuff is in development containers so it isn't much of a mindset switch. The only thing I'm still trying to get running smoothly is VR.

I started on something similar. Great to learn on for sure. I’ve been downsizing everything to containers on a few thin clients recently since I was getting tired of paying the power bill for my larger servers lol.
