Speaking of noses, I just found out quite by accident that mine is big (I bought a nasal strip thing that uses a reusable magnetic thing that comes in multiple sizes and I needed the biggest one they provided). I always thought I was proportional 😭

If I had someone make me one salad every day, I would eat one salad every day. And unless they were terrible at that job and made bad salads, I would enjoy eating them every day. Alas, no one is here to make me salads.

This line of reasoning does not extend to things that are demonstrably harmful to society, like the police state. That's just a whole hill of bad priorities and wishing harm on your neighbor.

No budget is perpetual and timeless, that's why they get redone. However I think it's also generally true that the government shouldn't be funding things that aren't necessary, ergo, if it ever made it into the budget in a previous year it likely needed to be there (charitable, I know)

I don't think I hate big tech. There are benefits to having tech at a huge scale. It's just that, without fail, the people in charge get too much money and too much power and stay greedy for both and do evil things. But that's a human problem, not a tech problem.

What's an appropriate response that still regulates them and prevents harm?

Sometimes people are just evil. It doesn't have to be a conspiracy. It just so happens that it later became a conspiracy. But do I think that spoiled yahoo who couldn't type a goddamn email was a plant? I do not.

I was 22 when I learned from my boss that sometimes people hear silence.
