I keep hearing that the Claremont Institute has been going downhill for years—traded in intellectual rigor for MAGA-style performative rot: bombastic memes, insult humor, empathy as weakness, toxic masculinity, and male white grievances. And they think they're saving Western Civilization.

Hesitation to prosecute obvious crimes would be another crime in itself. To not prosecute the people who keep bogously claiming they are victims of "lawfare" need to be held to account. If not, it's just another domino. We know which direction those are falling.

Very interesting take. I realize the underbelly of American politics—yet still hold out hope for less irrational fear, victimhood, scapegoating, racism, phobia and insults. I read James B. Stewart's "Blood Sport", but still hope we don't all have to collapse into low-brow wrestlemania.

Since the MAGA GOP has introduced fake wrestling, insult comedy, mass warehouse incarceration without due process, and "alternative facts" into the raw sewage of populist politics, I hope the Dems can re-introduce tarring and feathering. They can call it "decorating" or "aspirational ornithology".

It's impossible to claim you're reviving the enlightenment of Western civilization when your literature is tweets, your philosophy is "me me me", your music is crap, your entertainment is fake wrestling, your comedy is all insults, and your Christianity is phony.

All so you can find out the future in the second quarter and bet big to win millions! ;)

Not to mention it took 12 hours to take it down. We can all see what this is...they're not fooling anybody.

How sad. And, yet, MAGA has made us more self-involved, self-important and isolationist than we've been in a long time. We're too busy talking about Trump's daily brain farts, immature insults, and puerile behavior to take full account of how many decades he is setting back our ability to govern.

Time for MAGA to once again open up their playbook: Ignore, insult, deflect blame, blame others, and say the critics are overreacting. And when the critics point out that the warning signs and assessment of danger were accurate, simply repeat. And, of course, don't forget to blame antifa.

We can instill confidence that elections are run well, except for the fact that the president has lied about election fraud since mid-2020 — six months before his armed supporters attempted to stop the certification of the 2020 election, which Trump lost. If he'd just shut up...
