… and when Teddy, remorseful, attempts apologise to Serafina about the whole affair, he instead manages to propose marriage.

To his surprise, she accepts, trapping them both in an engagement neither of them desire.

And there begins The Forthenby Ladies.

Aided by Peaches Waghorn - Teddy’s best friend, valet, and long-term fwb - Teddy’s valet summons the Watch to prevent the duel, and, in the chaos Richard’s gun is fired, and an officer of the Watch is killed.

Fleeing the law, he is forced to abandon Serafina to her father’s persecution…

Unfortunately, Richard has struggled to fix his interest with Serafina, due to opposition from her father - who takes the amorous interest of Lord Forthenby very seriously, and pressures his daughter to encourage them.

However, Teddy’s plans eventually succeed, and the duel arranged… BUT!
