Spent two weeks in Armenia recently, finalising some research during the hot middle parts of the day and enjoying the freshest air and outstanding views in the early mornings and evenings. What a magnificent country filled with the loveliest people.

Important reminder from Adam Tooze in Chartbook today, that the Global Energy Transition remains an "utterly radical" notion that will not be achieved by merely adding more renewables into the mix.

At COP26 in 2021 an initial USD8.97 billion in financing was pledged by international partners to South Africa's Energy transition. (Since grown to USD13.8 billion) Nearly half of this funding takes the form of concessional loans. Around 1% is grant funding. Just Energy Transition?
