I’m a hungry hungry hippo. I play a lot of commander and rpgs. Life is short, giggle more. He/Him/His
One day I’ll be able to upgrade a flight to first class. Today is not that day.

I love crossing the street at the 90 off ramp. With the light. Off ramp has a red light. I am wearing white and a high vis safety vest. My dog is wearing a reflective vest.

Had to yell at a driver that apparently couldn’t see us as he kept coming forward. Into the cross walk.

I’m so happy all our prereleases are sold out. It’s a good sign for drafts and the upcoming standard “season” doing well. Holidays will always throw a wrench but I’ll take these wins for the store.

RPG campaign is having another off week. I know life happens, I’m not blaming anyone in the group.

But I feel like we’re missing weeks more than gaming and it does not spark joy for GMing. Considering pitching weekly to rebuild consistency (currently play every other week).

I blame this video/podcast youtu.be/ymBLUsjcdQs for having me all excited to scrap decks when fall hits fully.
Vivi is likely cut for playing a little too solitaire.
Rip is solid, but I think the two decks I’ve built recently capture my goals better.
And the Clue commanders are calling to me.

When the Partial Paris mulligan went away, why didn’t commander keep the exile bit to minimize shuffling?

What if we only shuffle once during mulligans? Just exile the hand, draw new hand, repeat. Shuffle your exiled cards and then bottom any cards to reduce your starting hand for the mulligan.

Took apart a couple decks. Built some new ones. Some rpg prep work for Saturday is tomorrow’s big goal.

Today the dog gets a bath and the dishes are cleaned and put away.

Later this week- possible rebuild of Oros? He’s been on various equipment builds for a while.

Threw together a Mr Orfeo deck running a bunch of the vanilla legends and stuff like Quakestrider Ceratops. Attacking with ceratops, double power into disciple of bolas to draw 24 cards and gain 24 life was amazing. This deck is so fun! Whip of Erebos is by far the MVP.

I beat Liz at Shobu for the first time in years! It may have been a while since she played and she forgot. But I haven’t won a game since like 2022. I will take this win against her!

I think it’s time for me to retire Oona, Queen of the Fae. I really enjoy this deck, but it never performs how I would like. Maybe I can revisit this in next year or in two years and see what I can pull off then.

Man, I actually liked the set and survey is closed. Love the welcome decks for teaching and they captured a bunch of characters well.
We want to know what you think of #MTGxSpiderMan in our latest survey!

Rip, Spawn Hunter is such a fun commander. I love playing this against some friends precons and other bracket 2 nonsense at my store. Still WIP, but it’s fun running something not my usual style- and it’s a GW deck I haven’t scrapped after like two games!

No Fabula Ultima game this morning (yesterday, but I work past midnight and haven’t slept yet so it’s emotionally still this morning).

Did play commander!
-General Kudro Shadowborn Apostle deck died to Tidus precon. Game was great!
-My bracket 2 Vivi deck popped off.
-Oona needs more work. A lot.

I feel real foolish, but I finally set up “work mode” on my phone to change what apps are on my screen and adjust some notifications still settings.

I think it helps? I think I should have done this a while ago.

Has anyone successfully Rule 0ed an alchemy card as your commander?

Look how cool these cards are! Lam is probably a bit too much. But Ghalma is awesome. I wonder if people would let me do this.

I’m so fortunate my store has so much space for gamers. But I really wish we had even more space! Running a pauper tournament and keeping play space open for commander and just Saturday open gaming is tough.

We just can’t do it all, juggling all our different community needs is a tightrope.

I love living somewhere with low humidity most days. It’s 80 in the Seattle area but like only 40% humidity. So nice, so breathable. I don’t miss 95% humidity and 100 degrees in the summer.

This is why my wife always asks to see their card. She will listen to them and follow up by asking to read it. Because people make mistakes or confuse things or forget.

She mostly does it to internalize cards, but man has she caught some wild misplays this way.
You ever play against someone who plays a card then proceeds to explain the card, and then you read it and it is 100% not what they said.
Are they cheating or is this some kind of "we found the narc" situation where they don't actually know magic?

Recently started meds for ADHD. They feel like a push in the right direction, but also kind of frustrating at how different support years ago could have changed so much

In great news, got enough done that I was able to test my brand new Commander Cube last night!

My wife has strongly formed and detailed opinions about Baggu bags drops, colors, and restocks. I’m in awe and a little scared.

She plays Magic. But I found *her* “Opinions about Magic”. Like she needs a Baggu podcast.

Since using brackets I’ve had fewer games with misaligned expectations. It still happens, but it’s much rarer now.
Every bad bracket experience I’ve had (and it’s not many) are the result of someone angle shooting/well actually’ing what counts as acceptable in that bracket. People are always the problem, and no system will ever fix that. Brackets go a long ways though, and I’m pretty happy with how it’s working.

Liz listening to The Emancipation of Mimi, “Again middle school Liz conjuring up the fan fiction because she didn’t have no life experience.”

We both cracked up.

Liz, “Are you writing it down for me?”
Me, “No.”
Liz, “You see, this is why people with assistants get famous.”

I have my Commander Cube list finished! Is it ready? Hell no. But it does feel like it’s close enough to start pulling cards out of my boxes, sleeving up, and trying to arrange some playtesting.

300 count for 4 player draft games of #cmdr with 60 cards not used each game for variance. #mtgcube
