This comes as over 1.9 million workers aged 25+ with at least a bachelor’s degree are now unemployed. Hubert Gerold Brown was so feared by authorities, there's a whole law named after him
The "Rap Brown Law" refers to a federal anti-riot law passed in 1968, officially the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which was enacted in response to the activism and rhetoric of H. Rap Brown. The law, officially codified as 18 U.S.C. § 245(b)(2), prohibits traveling across state lines with the intent to incite, organize, or participate in a riot. This legislation was created to target individuals who Brown and his supporters were accused of using to promote violence and unrest. Enactment: The law was passed by the U.S. Congress in 1968. Rationale: It was passed in direct response to the activities of H. Rap Brown, who was the chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) at the time. His speeches and rhetoric advocating for "Black Power" and criticizing the government's policies were seen as a direct threat by some political leaders and law enforcement agencies, leading to the passage of this law.
