Everyone eventually ends up with cataracts, Dr. Patricia Bath developed laser and ultrasound techniques and her invention, the Laser Phaco Probe, ethic made their removal more effective and less painful. Because of her, people who have been blind for decades can see again.

Parker designed a natural gas furnace that was more efficient than fireplaces, reduced the risk of house fires and eliminated the need to buy or chop wood. Her designs were a major step toward modern central heating.
