Closer it gets the more this would shift opinions either way IMO, if it hasn't accounted for the shift already. There is zero reason to trust this government on data privacy or surveillance and that's a very easy argument to make.
What Information is acceptable? Britons are most willing to see their date of birth (66%), a photograph (59%), and blood type (54%) stored on an ID card. However, there is significant opposition to including more sensitive information, with 40% opposed to storing DNA details, 36% opposed to fingerprints and 34% against social security records. Willingness to include almost all types of data appears to have decreased since 1995*.

Idle thought for the day.
From earlier... I didn't wake up today. I opened my eyes but no consciousness came. Instead vision was obscured by frosted webs, layers of them creating intricate fractals that stretched far enough to leave reality unseen and unknown. I felt I should, perhaps, claw at them, seek to pull them aside to seek out the sharp relief of solid shapes and forms. But so far I haven't had the will to make that effort. So instead I find myself staring at the strands of this web, idly tracing them to their source, seemingly always out of sight, to see if I can find an anchor positioning them or the arachnid manifestation of some escaped thought. One seeking to submerge me as a demand for understanding or attention. My hearing is disjointed as I stare. I choose harsh sounds to test whether the mundane ones regain their normality by comparison. But all seems off. All seems jarring and listless. A threat that makes senses unreliable, or seem unreliable at least. The lingering paranoia enough to make the end the same either way. All that's left is my own mind, robbed of true vision and hearing, uncertain of the day's terrain and wary of the path through it, weary at the prospect of walking it. Uncertain I return to my watch, eyes adjusted to the one task of observation, an immobile mind awaiting the pattern that may clarify.

The window of governments actually caring about risk, least of all daily risks to citizens, seems to have lasted about 4 minutes.
The initiative reflects France’s push to frame AI policy around opportunities rather than just potential risks. French President Emmanuel Macron released a statement saying that “by giving access to data, infrastructures and computing power to a large number of partners, Current AI will contribute to developing our own AI ecosystems in France and Europe.”
