Incredible crop of quandongs this year

Not news to anyone that's paying attention, but pretty amazing figure of what is going on with residential batteries from CSIRO 🔌💡

This is just such an incredible figure for the QLD Gov to highlight and basically celebrate in the year of 2025

The internet suggests she did

* They are still burning some coal when they are doing this - be interesting to know how much exactly.

This is what whole power station was doing: "Peaking coal" .. ~1600MW increase in space of a couple of a couple of hours.

This is pretty amazing from Bayswater Unit 2 over the weekend - so-called "two shifting".

i.e. black coal turning off* in the middle of the day due an abundance of RE and low prices.

🔌💡

Apparently going have lots of reforestation (>100mt p.a) 😳

Sounds like a lot of forest!

Residual fossil emissions still quite significant in 2050 in the treasury modelling, as it turns out

First figure in the ISP - dashed is current announced closures (..which you may notice has gone up between ISP's, at least in the short term)

The purple line (step-change - what it looks like if constrain emission) is the 90% and all gone by 2040 scenario.
September 19, 2025 at 5:26 AM
.. actually the timeline in step-change largely reflect the constraint of a carbon budget (which - once again - we don't have in the real world).

(This one's from the CCA)
September 19, 2025 at 5:18 AM
fyi Treasury modelling assumes we're going to hit 82% RE by 2030 and be consistent with ISP

(i.e. input not output)
September 19, 2025 at 12:51 AM
This is kind of funny

I see. The CCA's reduction in the lower bound to account for uncertainty, including that related to data centre load growth 🫠🫠🫠

Job done.

..And actually quite a lot of it was curtailed (see hatched areas below)

For all those folk in Vic, you might be interested to know that the wild winds we've had last few days has resulted in the lowest 24hr period of brown coal generation on record 🎉

Lol this is funny and non-sensical
