Denzel kills the twins, the mother gets murdered in front of both the general and the Mc, they rally the tropes to save Rome the “epitome of…” blah blah blah, memories of the wife, their wedding, getting tattoos etc. while they fight.Denzel’s character dies.

It’s not great but it’s a little better.

the mc and his mother. They become friendly towards each other, Obviously they aren’t the only ones plotting, Denzel’s character is plotting too. Buys the Mcs, separating the general and revealing that his is the main murderer to his wife. (Conflict) the doctor is ally to the husband and a spy -

Plot: the Mc loses the war like normal, general kills his wife, Mc doesn’t know this. General and wife plots a coup on the twin emperors, as a means to protect themselves, the coup get found out, the general and the Mc meet in he Gladiator ring. He is the enemy and the building block to -

Because his mother saved his life by placing him in nubia.Why not more important ace in that plot? His mother, the general and Denzel’s character have interesting intersections. What not carry that over into the plot of the movie.

For a movie it’s so bad how much this had the potential to at least make a statement. He was a nine/ten old, he doesn’t know Rome. He might remember it but not enough to connect with it. Why?

it’s just him and the doctor, who felt very random at times. He wasn’t a spy to help rally the tropes, wasn’t a message to connect mother and son, wasn’t even a Love interest, wasn’t even a proper friend. Why was he there?

We never saw the group bond except that ONE scene at lunch where they make monkey sounds at him. (Weird they used shaved monkeys to fight) We never seen them practicing the workout+ chatting, bond while helping each other wounds, or talk even in their cells. nothing.

His knowledge makes him suspicious to his owner. The movie wants you to hype him up for being one of the guys and rallying the trope but the enemy is the better man. The main character is not even closer to the people he’s rallying though he is a slave like them.

His roman traits are only there to say of he would save Rome he is one of them. It disrespects the concept of patriotism in the idea of why people feel so inclined to protect the country. He could have been a phenomenal foil to Denzel’s character, both being taken away for home.

He doesn’t think of her, doesn’t reminisce about or objects that reflect his time with his wife. Neither does the movie respect the country of nubia, it doesn’t show with his behavior or his clothing, he is Roman throughout and while that’s fine once’s his in Roman. He is culturally Nubian.

Harping more on Galdiator 2(from someone that never watched the first movie) he doesn’t love his wife. Nor does the movie respect her. She is just an example of a woman suffering for a man motivation.

Life is complicated,identity the most fragile. As we try our best to create doppelgänger of ourselves. So an Asian woman being an adopted child with Blk parents and a pregnant Blk bsf both navigating the idea of life in college would have been interesting. Especially if adoption was on the table.

It’s one of my main critique of the movie itself. How can I root for his reasoning of saving Rome if he himself doesn’t actually care about the country. His wife was killed by Romans, Romans made him flee the country, Romans made him a slave. So why does he go against the antagonist?

Born in an asylum of 1300 people. It was a community full of zany pride since they were all quarantined in the west ward. A close enough distance for the Hell Guard to monitor. The village was pretty prosperous for its conditions until an incident reduced the population to a town of 12 people.
