Our new academic year began with a Postgraduate Picturing Research event. Our PhD and Masters by Research students created an image and short text to depict their research. These reflected the varied, impactful, international and discipline spanning nature of PGR research within the department.

A two-day workshop on Qualitative Research was held at University of KwaZulu-Natal and led by DSES' Brett Smith. We hope everyone enjoyed the workshop and Brett's presentation.

Yesterday students from the MSc course in Physical Activity, Health & Society came together for the Postgraduate Taught Conference 2025. It was a great to hear more about their fascinating dissertation projects, & fresh perspectives to timely & diverse issues across sport, health & physical activity

Lindsay Macnaughton, was recently invited by the Swiss Sports Nutrition Society to delivered a keynote session on Body Composition Assessment in Athletes: Why? When? How?. Lindsay also co-presented with her collaborator Therese Fostervold Mathisen from Østfold University College (HiØ) in Norway.

Great to see lots of prospective students and parents at our Studying Sport & Exercise Sciences talk as part of today's Durham University open day. We've got further talks today and across the course of Saturday!

On Monday, we teamed up with Flourish@Durham to run a workshop exploring how to improve support for researchers engaged with sensitive, emotionally-charged and contentious topics.
