(7/10) Rinko's boss form appears as a male priest & I think this reflects how Rinko in trying so hard to be feminine is actually caught in the patriarchy. That her definition of feminity is defined by men's definition of women, & her boss form reflects that she's in a man's image

(2/8) I think the biggest clue to the absolute tragedy of Rinko in SHf is a few really easy to miss or overlook pieces of dialogue. One such example being if you stand & wait in front of where you execute her in the cage, she'll eventually yell, "I want out of your world!"

(1/8) I'm going to do a "in defense post of Rinko from Silent Hill f. MAJOR SPOILER WARNING.

Rinko gets a lot of hate, & I get it, but I don't think people are seeing Rinko clearly.

To understand Rinko, you first have to understand the Rinko we see through the game ISN'T Rinko.

(1/3) Silent Hill f SPOILERS warning.

I really, really like SHf's layered narrative. Exploring about how being told to "be grateful" being thrown as you as an insult is a form of violence. Pressure to pay back for basic things, being belittled by parents, peers, etc, for simply

(3/6) other surprises.

-The final update for Red Haze is being worked on. I want to keep most of the update a surprise, but if you don't mind a small sneak peak of a creature from it, here it is:

-Close Me is getting a 10-year anniversary update which will make the New Game+ DLC

(1/6) Just to be transparent with what Yai Gameworks is up to:

-Working on a new game called Pale Sugar. This is the main character art and sprite from the game, far more info on it soon.

-Working on a big overhaul update for Close Your Eyes Remake, doing a final pass over

(1/21) So at the slow speed I take to play games, I'm 9 hours into Silent Hill f, just beat the first boss, playing on Hard combat difficulty & "Lost in the Fog" (Hard+) puzzle difficulty.

Here's my non-spoiler impressions if you'd like to hear them. I promise, minimal spoilers!

Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly Remake announced just now on the Nintendo Direct, releasing early 2026.

(10/10) such a hard prospect, since making it more "fun" does take away from the sorta' madness the original game delivers on in its experience.

And makes the weird, strangely beautiful, profound moments maybe lose a bit of impact in the descent known as Drakengard. I love it.

(9/10) It goes under the genre I sorta' like to call "Anti-Fun" game design, where the game aims for something different than a "good time" to fuel a certain feeling while playing, & does so rather successfully. It's also why the prospect of ever remaking the original game is

(8/10) more of the story, it becomes a weird symphony that all contributes to a growing madness the game successfully builds. Being a 2003 game, it's also one of the earliest games which experimented with the idea of the player being a participant in the game as "Watchers".

(7/10) And between the story growing increasingly insane, the music of the game on repeat getting more & more corrupted, alongside the gameplay, which can go from dull to infuriating quickly, & then which expects you to repeat stages multiple times & do special criteria to unlock

(6/10) classical pieces of music, which they then butchered up, sampled from, & twisted into Drakengard's soundtrack. Which there's something to be said for taking some of human's artistic masterpieces & corrupting them beyond recognition that plays super well into its themes.
September 11, 2025 at 7:36 AM
(5/10) It follows unforgivable main characters in a world descending into madness. This is backed up by a soundtrack that progressively makes it sound like your PS2 is on the fritz and bugging out. Apparently the music was made in a process they hired an orchestra to play several

(4/10) which cuts us off from Caim's direct thoughts. It becomes increasingly clear Caim is not mentally well, fueled by hatred & a growing genocidal bloodlust.

Without spoiling too much, Drakengard is a horror story about madness, corruption, & the worst humanity has to offer.
September 11, 2025 at 7:18 AM
(3/10) following a guy named Caim, who makes a pact with a dragon named Angelus, who both hate each others species but come together when they're both on death's door. In this world, the weaker one gives something up for the strength of the other, Caim loses his ability to speak,

(2/10) back around to being a brilliant game imo, sorta like Rule of Rose. The gameplay goes between being okay, to dull, to insufferable & enraging, but it weirdly works well with the mood & story the game is going for.

That story might best be described as Yoko Taro's "Berserk-like".
September 11, 2025 at 6:53 AM
(1/10) In lieu of the Drakengard 1 OST dropping randomly onto Steam & Spotify, I want to talk a little bit about Drag-On Dragoon. Most people know it as Yoko Taro's prequel to the NieR series these days, but for me it's a well of major creative inspiration, a bad game that comes

Right now working hard on updates for Close Your Eyes Remake, Red Haze, Feast Your Eyes, & Close Me.

Here's a small sample of the intro cutscene before the title screen for Close Your Eyes Remake on Steam, done by @grcnexe.bsky.social exe & I. See the full thing when the next update hits:

I'm being super productive. Might've figured out how to make better skipable cutscenes in Red Haze finally, almost done with Red Haze 2's blueprint, Close Your Eyes Remake's Opening Movie soon™️!

Resident Evil Requiem's main menu theme from the demo was shared & making the rounds. Will likely end up the main menu theme of the full RE9 game as that's not unusual for these demos.
August 21, 2025 at 2:15 AM
Here's the full cutscene from the end of the Resident Evil Requiem demo if anyone wants to see it. Nice to see a fuller RE9 cutscene.
