Wonderous Winter Weather
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator and Princess-Muffins] Gordon and Rebecca were double-heading the express together when it started to snow. Gordon, of course, complained about this, to which Rebecca voiced her enthusiasm. Gordon then bluntly voiced his opinion on another express engine on the island. Again, Rebecca managed to put a positive spin on it. She even capped her response off with a compliment, something that really threw Gordon for a loop.

Awkward Adjustments
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Paxton was helping out in Tidmouth Yards. As he was sorting trucks in the sidings, a light snowfall began. He then met up with Stanley in the middle of the yard, and the two got to talking about how the railway's snowplough system worked, and how awkward it could be for the shunters when they had to clear the tracks within the yard. Stanley then recalled the kinds of ploughs his old preservation line before Sodor had, including separate wagons with snowploughs fixed to the front. He then joked that if the North Western had any, Thomas had almost certainly attempted to claim one for himself - just so he wouldn't have to wear a snowplough of his own.

Unpleasant Conclusions
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Edward brought his trucks into Tidmouth Yard, and was refilling his tender when he met up with Lady Abigail. Edward told her about what he'd seen with the new express engine in Ballahoo Tunnel, and the two began proposing theories as to what could've been happening. Ultimately, they concluded that the two were clearly having some visible friction, and their attitudes towards each other may be reaching a boiling point. Lincoln chimed in, suggesting that Mr. Hatt was making an example of the new engine, by way of public humiliation. Edward couldn't fathom an engine being punished for their illness, and said as much. Lincoln replied that he was only guessing, before insulting the Pacific's performance overall, something neither Edward nor Abigail took kindly to. In the end, Edward set off to get a head start on his next train, so that he wouldn't have to hear the rest of the growing argument.

More Questions than Answers
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] As he made his way back towards Tidmouth, Edward kept mulling over the situation regarding the Ballahoo Tunnels. However, nothing could've prepared him for what he saw once he got there. Several passengers stood pulling on a rope, as Sir Topham Hatt - one of the recently appointed directors - stood nearby barking orders at them. All the while, the engine Edward could only assume was their new Pacific - who everyone called the "White Elephant" - stood glaring them down from the shelter of the tunnel. Some of Edward's trucks chose then to speak up, laughing and jeering at the green engine. Edward shushed them the best he could, but feared that the damage had already been done, as several passengers and even the engine in question glanced his way. Sir Topham Hatt just looked on in what could best be described as a look of grim satisfaction.

[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Edward was preparing to leave with a mixed goods for Tidmouth, when Thomas arrived with a rake of coaches. Thomas then pressed Edward for more information regarding the express and the railway's "White Elephant". Edward didn't want to scare Thomas, and as such was vague in how he answered the tank engine's questions. He hated being so indirect, and even more that what he said bordered on lying, but if it kept the young tank engine from stressing out or panicking, then it was worth it.

Long Journey for a Small Engine
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Cedric was preparing to take a stopping goods up to Tidmouth when he heard Hermes' whistle. Cedric was rather surprised, unaware that Hermes was piloting in Vicarstown Yard. He hadn't even seen the small green engine until then, but sure enough, Hermes pulled in with a rake of stone trucks in tow. Hermes then casually broke it to Cedric that he'd brought them from Knapford Junction - on the other side of the island. As Cedric struggled to wrap his funnel around how a four wheeled saddle tank engine could take an entire train - of any capacity - across an 80 mile main line without issue, Hermes informed Cedric of how he'd occasionally taken the post train overnight, something that really threw the bigger green engine for a loop.

Rising Concerns
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Figuring Melanie would be a while, considering her bickering with Thomas, Edward decided to sort his next train out himself. He was arranging his trucks when Evandor arrived, looking worried. He told Edward about how he'd seen a crowd of people outside Ballahoo Tunnels and heard a lot of raised voices. Edward recalled that that was where he'd last seen their new Pacific and his coaches. Evandor attempted to calm himself down before cautioning Edward on his return journey. Edward wasn't quite sure what to make of things, just that either way, he was dreading his next trip through the tunnels.

Disappearing Act
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Edward pulled into Vicarstown Yard, where he met Thomas and Melanie. As per usual, the two were bickering. He had to split up multiple arguments between them while catching up on what'd been going on while he was out on the main line. He told them about what he'd seen out at the tunnels, which led to Thomas fretting that the express had "disappeared", which Melanie only scoffed at.

Rain and a Tunnel
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Edward was making his way back to Vicarstown with a stopping goods. As he neared Ballahoo Tunnels, he heard a whistle behind him. His driver looked back, and informed Edward and the fireman that 'The White Elephant' would be passing them by, much to the annoyance of both men. However, as they exited the tunnel, there was no sign of the engine nor his coaches. The driver remained adamant that they'd catch up with the pacific before Vicarstown.

James and Dennis
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] James had been sent to the Coaling Plant, much to his dismay. As if things couldn't get worse, he found Dennis there, likely slacking off on the job. Dennis then began persuading James to do presumably his shunting for him. James deduced that Dennis was meant to be shunting at the Plant, which was only made more apparent with Dennis trying to pass said work onto the red engine. Dennis then commented on James's paintwork, stating that he seemed due for a new coat, and encouraged the red engine on the promise of new paint as a reward for putting up with the coal deliveries. Eventually, James caved and took on the extra work himself, much to the lazy engine's delight.

An Old-ish Friend
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Gordon's firebars had collapsed while he was climbing the Maron Incline. He'd managed to reach the next station, where BoCo had been sent to help him finish the journey. At Barrow, the two met the engine that'd be taking their passengers onward. BoCo was bracing for an unpleasant interaction, only to find that Gordon and Dwayne - as the engine was apparently called - were actually good friends. The two chatted, with Gordon introducing BoCo to Dwayne, until Sir Topham Hatt stepped onto the platform, and began to address the two - predominately Gordon. Unfortunately, the controller had to hurry to his carriage before saying all he'd intended to, leaving poor Gordon in great suspense.

Dirt and Laces
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Toby was shunting trucks into the sidings at Toryreck when Thomas pulled in. Toby inquired about the flamboyant red engine they'd interacted with at the junction. Upon learning the engine was James, Toby told Thomas about the red engine's comments - namely referring to Toby and Henrietta as 'dirty objects' and the like. Thomas then told Toby about the time a bootlace had been used to mend a hole in one of James's coaches, and encouraged the tram engine to use that in their next altercation, which Toby was only too eager to do.

[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Mavis brought a small stone train down to Knapford Junction. She had to wait for the main line train to pass before she could proceed to Tidmouth. As she waited, a big red tank engine pulled in and introduced himself as Arthur. Arthur asked Mavis for the time, which she found odd - especially when he got to working out the time based on when he departed Tidmouth Station. Mavis shifted the topic to Arthur's livery. He went on to explain the LMS and what it meant to him. The guard's whistle sounded out a moment later, and Arthur departed, leaving Mavis uncertain on how to feel about the conversation that had transpired.

'Now for a sprint!'
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Stepney and Duck had taken charge of the express, as the diesel rostered for it had broken down in the yard. The two tank engines gave it their all, and, while not matching Gordon's pace, they still made good time all things considered. Edward was waiting for the express to pass through, but the engines pulling it came as quite a shock! Edward whistled encouragingly as the pair thundered by, but all the same, he couldn't help feeling absolutely bewildered.

Snowplough Season
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Lewielol, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] James, Almond, and Henry stood inside Tidmouth Station, waiting for the passengers to board their coaches. As they waited, Almond and James began discussing how early the holiday rush had hit. The topic then shifted to the oncoming cold weather, with the looming threat of frost and snow, which would mean their ploughs, something Thomas - who'd arrived during the discussion - immediately voiced his distaste towards. Henry and James couldn't help teasing him about it, which only further riled the tank engine up.

TrainTober Day 31 - The New

The New Express Service
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Pip and Emma had been tasked with a newly instated overnight service between Tidmouth and London. Emma hated working overnight - not because it meant extra work, but because she was prone to freaking herself out, imagining the worst hiding around every bend her lights couldn't reach in time. Her sister, Pip, tried to refocus her, but had difficulty doing so with Emma so tense. Emma attempted to play it off, but Pip saw through her false confidence. She did however, seem to drop the issue, leaving Emma to try and focus on the track ahead, and not let her mind wander with what could be lurking in the shadows.

TrainTober Day 29 - Overhaul

Rebuilt and Returning Home
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Gordon had been to Crewe for a rebuild. He hadn't enjoyed his time there nearly as much as Henry had, but then he'd been rebuilt out of necessity - in a far different manner to the green engine. He'd maintained his Gresley identity in all aspects above his running plate. The running plate itself was an odd flowing, curvature that just felt strange. Below that, was all Stanier. Now Gordon was returning home. The country had been on the brink of war, and now, with sirens wailing, he knew the time had come. He only hoped he could return home in time.

TrainTober Day 28 - Special Event

Festive Competition
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] Captain Baxter was visiting the North Western Railway. One night, during his visit, he was asked to collect some flower bushes for Lower Tidmouth Station. Baxter was severely unimpressed with the job, but set off nonetheless. At Lower Tidmouth, he met Almond, who - after a brief introduction - explained the premise of the Best Decorated Station competition. Predictably, Baxter didn't see nor understand the value in such a competition, considering it a waste of time and resources. Almond also brought up St. Machan's Day, where the engines themselves dressed up for a similar competition, which Captain Baxter thought most absurd.

Distant Reminders

He'd been back to work for over a month now, but this was his first time with the train since his accident back in the winter. It took everything in him to take the train, especially when he reached the siding where he'd had that horrific wreck. He passed by the siding without incident, but he still couldn't shake the unease that permeated his entire being.

Nightmarish Reflections
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] The growl of Bear's engine has always been something of a sensitive topic for him. One night, he dreamt of a world where he made no noise at all. No one seemed to pay him any mind. More than that, everyone seemed... relieved. As though a huge burden had been taken off their buffers. Bear awoke to Henry's concerned voice. Once Henry heard Bear's nightmare through, he quickly and thoroughly made sure Bear knew just how much he was appreciated - by Henry as well as everyone else. Murdoch didn't count because he was always that uptight. Henry offered that the two take the Flying Kipper together to clear Bear's mind. The Hymeck was only too happy to take him up on it.

'Thank you for Everything'
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Lewielol, and Princess-Muffins] Toby made his way into Tidmouth Station, pleased to have a moment alone with the bust statue of the Thin Clergyman. He asked his crew to give him some space. He took a breath to compose himself, and went on to thank the Thin Clergyman for visiting his old tramway all those years ago, and for convincing Sir Topham Hatt I to visit on his holiday not long after. And for showing Toby how to have hope again.

TrainTober Day 24 - Revelation

Riveting Revelation
[Sprites by Cj-the-Creator, Princess-Muffins, and Myself] After taking the express to a station on the mainland, Gordon had to pull into a yard to restock his tender before the journey home. He saw what appeared to be two tenders emerging from a shed, and began putting thought into a second tender of his own. A diesel then began making verbal threats towards Gordon's safety on Sodor, which the big engine dismissed as a scare tactic. That was, until a shunter dragged the tenders out to reveal the rusting carcass of a steam engine - once just as alive as Gordon - at the front. Overcome with a sickening disgust, Gordon quickly vacated the yard, much to the amusement of the diesels that had been taunting him.
