Text reads: Shathann, before leaving the Qun, was a scholar. This was what she showed aptitude for as a child and the role she was given. While she left to give Taash a chance at a better life, she was still very in her identity in the Qun. Studying Qunari artifacts was what she wanted to do. It was part of her. This is why is was so difficult for her to understand and communicate with Taash about their identity. Shathann was trying to fill the role of Tamassran, a mother. This wasn't what she was trained for but a role she chose, and could only choose outside of the Qun. However, the Qun was what she knew, along with its strictly gendered roles. She struggled to understand past, not what a man or woman should be as is often the case in our society, but what should be a woman or man. When Taash came to her to tell her they were non-binary, she didn't know what that meant. Not a woman. So a man? A fighter, that would make sense as a man. No. She was listening. She didn't have the words that Taash had learned but she was listening, trying to understand.

Text reads: Under the Qun, the individual's identity, including gender, is decided by the Qun and is tied to their role, or their job, to put it simply. A warrior is a man, regardless what body he was born with. A Tamassran is a woman, but if a male child showed the aptitude for it and was chosen for it, that is what she would be. The required gender for a role in Qunari society is all previously decided. A Qunari's entire identity is centered around their role in society. A farmer is a farmer, and that is his entire purpose, it's who he is and even what he's called. A Qunari's individual name is nothing more than an indicator of their heritage. Warrior, baker, researcher, weaponsmith. This is all of who they are, what they are bred for. They are all parts of the greater whole. As The different branches of the Qun are the limbs of a body, the people are like the cells.

We all know the scene in which The Iron Bull tells Krem about the Aqun-Athlok, "people born as one gender but living as another." He does so to affirm his gender and it's a great moment. But what he doesn't explain is how gender and the Aqun-Athlok are in Qunari society. 🧵

Iron Bull: If a Qunari woman really wants to fight and has a gift for it, she becomes an Aqun-Athlok. The Aqun-Athlok joins the warriors and is treated like a male. He becomes a guy, for all intents and purposes. Cassandra: But she wouldn't physically become male, surely. Iron Bull: Doesn't matter. In the Qun, your role is everything. Cassandra: And... do you think of me as male, then? Iron Bull: Depends. In or out of your armor?

Interpersonal and kinesthetic only got boosted bc my intrapersonal and logical are high. I (think I) can tell when ppl are lying and know I need to move my body bc I logically understand what my brain is doing and what it needs (does that help me act upon it? No.)
