For #TransportTuesday we have a rather laden cart. It is on Perth Road outside the Tay Rope Works, which ran all the way to Magdalen Yard Road.
The photograph appears to be from 1908 as a poster in the background refers to the London Olympics of that year.

The name of this street comes from Claude Ralston, who worked as factor for the Earl of Home on his estate in Angus. He was originally from Glamis. Although it was also known as Beachtower Road after the large house on the street (now number 4).

These photographs show Pte John Willmott of the 1st Battalion
Royal Highlanders.
The story goes that he kept trying to enlist whilst under-age, and finally the recruiting sergeant had John's father permission in writing and he was enlisted.

The area around this street was feued to a Mr Paton Black in 1540. By 1581 the area was known as Blackscroft. Paton Black was a wright, and did work on St Mary’s Parish Church in the 1550s.
