There’s no Democratic Party. What we have is a group of wet noodles stuffed into suits & blazers who presumably once believed in… something, and a group of progressive activists who’d like to stop the world from burning and who reluctantly share a party with them because there’s nowhere else to go.
The decision to fold on the shutdown is likely to fan the flames of the Democratic Party’s raging discontent with its elected representatives.

This is it, right here. This should give you hope. This is what it can look like when we do the work. This is the power of pounding the pavement. This is why we can’t just talk about “community” in an abstract way, we get out there and LISTEN to people. This is the difference a year can make.

Serious question: Ignoring how bad of an idea private health insurance is, why do we also accept the HORRIBLE customer service? Even if you’re like “Hell yeah! Let’s add an expensive, morally bankrupt middleman to medical care,” you’d still expect the company to be responsive & helpful, right?

I think the reason I am so viscerally angry about the gerontocracy is because I’m 51 years old and literally every day I have some occasion to think to myself, “I’m too old for this shit.”

It feels ridiculous to even point out that it’s not about the drugs. It has never been about the drugs. Trump wants Venezuela’s oil.
Yes, the U.S. pumps plenty of oil. But if Venezuela isn’t a competitor, we can sell it for so much more.

Having grown up poor and being financially secure means simultaneously feeling grateful and guilty every time you are full.

The point of this is not just retribution against people who were mean to him. Trump claims the ‘20 race was illegitimate so he can take federal control of counting the votes. This is part of their plan to steal the ‘28 election, and every “election” that follows.

To anyone soulless enough to make FAFO jokes right now about Trump voters losing SNAP benefits, let me remind you that shitty people—and their *children*—deserve food too.

Zohran Mamdani spoke what is, quite possibly, the single greatest and most moving piece of personal political commentary I have ever seen or heard from a politician.
“While it would be easy to say this is not who we are… we know the truth. This is who we have allowed ourselves to become.”

Here’s how I see White House demolition fiasco: A convicted criminal is breaking the law by destroying public property that was built as part of crimes against humanity on land stolen from people as part of an earlier criminal imperialist enterprise.

Speaking of betting, I will bet anyone $500 that this probe started because Kash Patel lost money on a sportsbook wager related to this case.

To leftists complaining that “No Kings” isn’t meaningful because there was no risk involved & no direct demands: Most Americans have never done any anarchist calisthenics.
“No Kings” helps folks activate activist muscles they’ve never used. We need them to stretch if we want them in the game later.

Real talk: I absolutely believe Graham Platner can win this primary, but I worry that Mills and Schumer are going to damage him badly along the way. I fear they’ll do the GOP’s dirty work for them. But only if we let them.

So, if we ever recover from the chaos and insanity of the last several years, can we now finally put to rest the whole “[government/schools/orgs/etc] should be run more like a business” horseshit?
Because, once again, WE TOLD YOU that was a bad fucking plan.

On this National Coming Out Day I want to say FUCK ICE for sending queer asylum seekers back to their countries of origin. Many fled persecution and violence simply for being queer. A number of these folks were closeted for their own safety, and they came out as part of their asylum process.
