It runs great too!!! The horn also works but the fuel tank won't fit with a battery installed, that's another project for another day... It looks goofy running by itself but I love it just the same

Today's project was servicing this postwar Lionel 404 Budd car that arrived, this thing is PRISTINE. I'd argue these are more fun than a set of coaches (and probably cheaper!) and I'm hoping to get another in the future to run in tandem

One of the P&E sleepers decided to take a trip to the Floor Subdivision (only a broken coupler by some miracle) so the Turbotrain got a few laps instead. Also ran a local with crazy eights with no incident

Found another random N scale boxcar that was only missing a truck pin, thankfully 4mm styrene rods do the job with some sanding

They're just Kadee 5 couplers in standard boxes, glued on the bottom and sanded down for clearance. A self tapping screw of your choice will also do the job. The addition of the bachmann metal wheels (those specifically are made for their old toolings) improves performance exponentially

Just a black wash, literally get some black paint on your brush then dip it in water before applying to the deck. Let it dry before applying a second coat and weather as you please, you can also use grey and brown for more variety but I've found the decking has enough detail with only a black wash

Had another one of these laying around so I figured why not make a second P&E flatcar. Now we're up to 7 completed freight cars (with another one that might get finished soon but no promises). I have no additional comment bc this was made exactly like the first flatcar beat for beat lol

I think a generic version of whatever catalogue model the Southern F8/New Haven G4 was would be a perfect candidate for such a release; a good dual service machine that doesn't look out of place doing either task, and could be used anywhere from the 00s into the 40s
