The AI revolution must be inclusive, transparent, and ethical. We must push for stronger safeguards and greater accountability to ensure that AI development protects society and individuals, preventing harm and promoting fairness for all.

Instead of resisting Big Tech and the US’s deregulatory push, the EU seems to be backing down. Prioritizing corporate deregulation without considering the human cost risks eroding rights, deepening inequalities, and leaving vulnerable communities exposed to harm.

While Croatian Minister Habijan boasted about AI investments, the government has yet to act on AI policy. There’s no AI Act implementation working group, no key strategic and operational documents, and not even designated officials for digital transformation.

As feared, the summit's key political messages centered on "deregulating" and "simplifying" our rules. This culminated in the withdrawal of the AI Liability Directive, which aimed to strengthen accountability for AI-related harm, leaving us without essential protections against AI risks.
