Day 2 of the 12 Days of #boardgames: played a couple more rounds of SW: BoH so had to sneak in something a little lighter so played a little magical athlete. 3 out of 5. No denying the quality of graphic design, hits a lot of the right nostalgia notes, & family always loves it. Just not much there.

Kicked off 12 Day of #boardgames last night. Day 1 of 12: Star Wars: Battle of Hoth with the Little Mister. It was light but interesting without a lot of rules overhead. 4 out of 5. Will play again and would recommend.

Aug/Sep plays courtesy of @bgstatsapp.bsky.social. Flamme Rouge and Forest Shuffle Dortmoor were both new and fun. Really loved Flamme Rouge and will get it to the table soon. Hopefully life settles down a little bit and I can get more to the table in the month of October!

#nowspinning Achtung Baby by U2. Such a great album that somehow managed to be out of its time and timeless simultaneously. The Joshua Tree is a classic, a perfect ten, but I think this is their best.

#nowspinning Kerosene Hat by Cracker. Such a great (and under appreciated) album. I recently saw that David Lowery was on the lineup for the Winnipeg Folk Festival (with Camper Van Beethoven) and chuckled. IYKYK

#nowspinning Green by R.E.M. This was my introduction to REM (followed by Eponymous). It’s a great album and it’s interesting to note the wide variance in mood and style. Curious if that is the result of intentionality or creativity (let’s how them what we can do versus let’s see what we can do).

#nowspinning Zach Bryan. He just creeped onto my radar this year thanks to collaborations with Kacey Musgraves and Sierra Farrell. This album is near perfect in its mood and pacing (peaking with tracks 8-11). I should explore his other material but just keep coming back to this album instead.

#nowspinning Nirvana Unplugged. What an incredible performance. I was fortunate to seem the live in December 1993 in Houston, TX. If only I knew it would be the only time I would get to see them. Check on your people friends, now more than ever.
