Poor choices landed me here. OIF and OEF vet, former AUS (the airport, not the country) and Army spox, now talking energy. Generally helpful, usually on background.
We went to a Christmas tree farm today. Photo by my wife.

Yikes - looks like that weather is finally rolling in.

Just in time for rush hour...

We have a pair of giant live oaks in the front yard that are gorgeous to look at and provide incredible shade, but I swear keeping after their tiny little leaves - and now acorns in the fall - is a Sisyphean task.

In 2015 I had the the honor of a lifetime to attend the 50th reunion of the Ia Drang veterans in D.C.

Wrote about it here - my best work from when I was in the Army (with some amazing stories from Sam Fantino, 1LT Rick Rescorla's RTO): www.army.mil/article/1588...

(And yes, that is *the* bugle.)

60 years ago today: 1/7 CAV descends into LZ X-Ray, the first major U.S. battle of the Vietnam War.

Just because I was digging through my old pics looking for something for Veterans Day - here's a collection of shots I took of random soldiers during my time as an army photojournalist.

No idea what any of these folks are now up to but wish them well.

Heck of a run, I'll say that much - happy Veterans Day y'all.

Sure, the image is AI slop, but it's also one of the most horrifying ideas for a product I can think of.

Feels as appropriate a time as any to post a few pics from the only time I've ever been to the White House (Medal of Honor Ceremony for COL Paris Davis).

Walking through the gates and entering through the East Wing was a surreal experience. Honestly surreal to think that entire part is just - gone.
