and therefore the government can afford to ignore the average citizen because most investments come from rich people or big companies

However, if work automation generalizes to a drastic degree, we just become economically irrelevant, look at the US: 57% of people live paycheck to paycheck, beside the AI sector everything else is effectively in a recession but in terms of big economics, the GDP is still growing so things are “ok”

Our main bargaining tools with the government are strikes, threatening the economical stability is pretty much the only thing they’ll listen to other than blatant violence, which can realistically be quenched by the military in western countries
