The copy on the ad reads as if the tracks are fresh. “Yes, a bear has been through here (on the back of a small bird).” And it’s not too dissimilar to actual bird tracks in the sand. I think it’s the lighting on the ad that gives it a “Jurassic Park” feel even though it’s not meant to be a fossil

Not sure if you've already caught it, but the page you posted is missing one of Knuckles' speech bubbles from the original book. The speech that is covering Mount Fate, "They've disappeared...and I've no idea where to find them!"

For those interested, here is what I believe to be the original source of that rumor. Dated Feb 27 1995, seven months before the dated cover letter on the legal draft that was scanned. Clearly this was going on for some time. My guess is things were settled behind closed doors before possible filing
