and that's fucking ridiculous! you shouldn't have to apply Vimes boots theory to a fucking santa hat you're gonna wear for like 2 or 3 events per year. that old santa hat that lasted 2 decades was like 15 or 20 dollars

We're doing this one a month (or thereabouts) and this chimes with what we have found. Even the ones that you don't remember liking so much have something to dig into, and it's amazing to see it building up.

Then Delia Sherman made the point that Pratchett loves all of his characters, even the ones he's written to be bad or small or show something wrong. She cites a spectrum from Fairy Queen to Carrot with Vimes in the middle.
