Like these are not communities that can’t speak English, they’re a group of people on a spectrum of English speaking ability correlated strongly with age and certain expressions or concepts lend themselves better to using the other language and it’s used out of politeness to grandma and grandpa.

I have yet to encounter a second generation immigrant who doesn’t speak perfectly acceptable English. It’s a problem that solves itself.

If you look at what the Nazi’s supporters said at the time, it was part their appeal then, too except replace SPD/KPD with “libs”.

IMO another reason was that they tried to outflank Republicans from the right with their immigration bill that they tried to pass a few months before the election and alienated otherwise sympathetic Latinos.

At the very least treating AES communism vs capitalism as a series of benefits and drawbacks instead of “the USSR was stupid and evil and dystopian” vs “sure, there are some bad things about capitalism but look at all this cool stuff!”
