The fact is that Trump and previous Republican presidents have appointed people to the agencies they hate who have weakened or crippled those agencies from within. Think of FEMA during Bush II. Now we have appointees who are expected to shut down their agencies, like Education and CFPB.

What I'm proposing can't happen all at once. It would have to be a multigenerational effort. But I believe that a well articulated vision of the future can be a powerful tool for shaping public awareness.

I'm not expecting those who read at a 5th grade level to read and understand my article. My intent was to provide a vision of what a future United States could look like-- one that is truly based on democratic principles. The target audience would be thought leaders and potential candidates.

Repeal the cap on the number of House members. Today it overrepresents rural regions. Based on population alone CA has about 26% less representation than it should.

The Senate represents states rather than people. 9 states have more than 50% of total population but only 18% representation

There's a simple way to address the problem of voters who are registered in multiple states. Add a column to the Social Security DB of citizens for the state in which they are registered to vote. Then expose an interface to update that field and require each state to call it when a voter registers.

Conservativism has always been about fear. Specifically fear of:

Abolition
Women's voting rights
Labor rights
Civil rights
Theory of evolution
Socialism
Dropping the gold standard
Immigrants
Government regulation of business
Gun control
Big govt

Etc., etc., etc.

same authorization was exploited over and over.

Congress should have the power to authorize the use of military force, but only for a limited time. The authorization could be pre-approved, but only by another vote in Congress.

Vietnam went on and on because no one had the courage to stop it.

Congress has the power to declare war. But congresspersons don't like to declare war. It's too all-or-nothing. That's why I favor congressional action to authorize the use of military force, as was done in Afghanistan and Iraq.

But the problem with THAT was that it had no time limit. And the

Russia good, NATO bad
Measles good, vaccines bad
American products good, globalism bad
Govt control of institutions good, small govt bad

How did the GOP evolve to this?

The narrative that the Civil War wasn't about slavery but was instead about Northern aggression is one that still persists.

Apparently the Trumpies want the power to determine who "deserves" American citizenship and who doesn't. And those who don't deserve it can be summarily deported because they would be here "illegally."

Justices can be impeached.

But given that the 6 conservatives all believe in some variation of the unitary executive theory, the next Democratic president could just fire them all and withhold their government provided pensions and security details.

Why is anyone surprised that the inventor of "Bombgate" is himself a bomb thrower?

No, I'm sorry I don't have numbers on that. 😒 But of course Native American voters are simply lumped into the states in which they reside. So their representation in the Senate is pretty dilute.

It's not just the Electoral College. The House is massively skewed toward low population states. It has 114 fewer members than it should on the basis of population alone. And 9 states have > 50% of total U.S. population, but only 18% representation in the Senate. We're under minority rule.

IF the nation survives the Trump/Project 2025 madness every one of his cabinet officers will have to be investigated. But any investigations of the Trumpies will have to move quickly because you can just bet that the rats will scurry away as fast as possible once they see that the jig is up.

The primary "benefit" of AI to society seems to be that of making businesses more profitable by eliminating vast numbers of employees.

Why does anybody think this will be a good thing? It reminds me of the Dot Com bubble, and I suspect it will implode just as spectacularly.

As usual your analysis, @altnps.bsky.social , is spot on.

Just two concerns:

1. The courts have shown time and again that they are reacting far too slowly to these Project 2025 outrages.

2. When a court case finally makes it to SCOTUS they might invent a special exemption, or just slow walk it.

represents: xenophobia, arrogant self-righteosness, insularity, economic naivety, and a calamitous inability to govern.

It will be a long and difficult process to rid ourselves of what he and his enablers have done. But it must begin with full exposure.

Many of them think democracy doesn't work and needs to be replaced with plutocracy. I can't predict, but the odds seem to be against it.

Still it would be good to have the argument put squarely before the American people.

Trump is a monster, but he is the quintessence of everything the GOP

Yes Trump should be impeached a third time. There are many high crimes which could be the basis of a trial in the Senate. Also note that Article II Section 3 says that if he is convicted he can then be tried in a court of law.

Will enough Republicans vote to convict? Most of them are cowards.
